"I'm a fan." - Jane Weidlin from The Gogos
"Pure emotion."
"The dude can sing and play exceptionally well."
"John has a smoky voice and a style that makes you want to camp out on a barstool and soak it in. Strong lyrics and the tunes are performed well. 'Born A Genius' is one of my favorite songs of all time!!"

At the age of three, John played triangle in Mrs. Callan's rhythm orchestra in Winnipeg Manitoba. He wanted to play the snare drum but Jeffrey, an older boy, got the nod. At twelve, John got his first guitar for Christmas and then diligently took guitar lessons every Tuesday afternoon for two years at a music studio in Vancouver British Columbia. At fifteen all hell broke loose. John was at a summer camp and was shown a song called "Dinosaur". It consisted of playing four chords over and over again. It made the girls sit closer every time he played these four chords (E-G-A-C). The penny had dropped. The guitar was no longer associated with reading notes from music books but with expressing teen angst and, well, getting girls to sit closer.
John has performed in Nashville, Edinburgh, Dublin, Seattle, and various towns and cities around British Columbia. He has co-written songs with many artists including Ra McGuire (lead singer of Canadian rock band "Trooper"), Angela Lauer (Toby Keith), Tim Shean (Herringbone Studios, Nashville).
Most recently, John was invited to participate in the fourth annual Steel Bridge Songfest in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, June 8-15th/08. Headlined by Jackson Browne, Jane Weidlin (GoGos), Eric MacFadden (Eric Burden's band, George Clinton's P-Funk), Victor DeLorenzo (Violent Femmes) and hosted by friend and mentor Pat maCdonald (Timbuk3), this was an intense week of co-writing, performing, and good times.
